Waiting Pool

Waiting Pool
Board of Trustees policy limits the class sizes at St. James.  Should all the spaces in a grade be filled, the School forms a waiting pool. When several candidates are applying for the same vacancy, the student with the highest priority will be accepted. Should there be more candidates than spaces available, the following criteria will be used in determining priority for admission:

  • Candidate with relatively higher academic aptitude and achievement rating.
  • Candidate with siblings currently enrolled.
  • Candidate of the clergy or staff of the Church of the Good Shepherd and/or St. James.
  • Candidate in waiting pool from preceding year.
  • Candidate previously enrolled at St. James.
  • Candidate who is a child or grandchild of a Good Shepherd parishioner.
  • Candidate of Episcopal Clergy in the area.
  • Candidate who is a sibling, child or grandchild of alumnus/ae.
  • Candidate who can contribute in some special way to the school, including the broadening of the ethnic and religious composition or gender ratio of a class.
  • Candidate of active members of other Corpus Christi area Episcopal congregations.
  • Candidate who has moved into the Corpus Christi area during the school year preceding the requested enrollment and whose family had active membership in an Episcopal congregation in the former community of residence.
  • Candidate with the earliest dated complete Admissions File.
  • Candidate with the earliest dated application.

St. James Episcopal School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its admissions and education policies, financial aid programs, employment practices, and other school administered programs.
