Admission Process

The Application
Download and complete an application for admission to St. James Episcopal School.  This application can be completed in Microsoft Word and then printed for your signature.  You should mail or deliver your application to the school with the required application fee.  Supplemental forms from the Application Packet will need to be printed out and delivered to your child’s current teacher. All applications should be returned to the Office as soon as possible.  A non-refundable application fee of $50.00 MUST accompany each application.  If you submit your application electronically, your application will not be considered complete until your check is received by the school.  To ensure your file is complete, please consult the Application File Checklist.

School Records
Records should be requested from the sending school and mailed from the school directly to St. James Episcopal School.  In some cases, schools require a direct request to come from St. James.  In such cases, parents should contact the St. James registrar's office.  School records should include:

  • Most Recent Report Card
  • Standardized Test Scores
  • Current Immunization Record

Teacher Recommendations
When students have already been attending another school, recommendations from two of the candidate's current teachers (if applicable) are required on the appropriate Teacher Recommendation Form.

Preschool Observations
In order to know more about a candidate's own special pattern of social, emotional, academic and social development, preschool candidates are asked to come to our campus and to spend time participating in experiences similar to the regular school program while under the supervision of one of our teaching staff.

Entrance Exams, Grades 1-8
All applicants for grades 1-8 are required to present the results from a nationally normed achievement test or to take standardized reading and arithmetic tests administered by St. James.

Notification Date
The Admissions Committee meets as needed during the admissions season to consider those candidates who have completed the full admissions process.

Enrollment Contract
Students have been enrolled only when the annual SJES Enrollment Contract has been signed by the financially responsible parties and by the School.  Parents are contracting for the entire year and therefore are encouraged to consider the available tuition insurance.  The specific date of premature withdrawal determines whether any of the year's tuition can be refunded.

St. James Episcopal School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its admissions and education policies, financial aid programs, employment practices, and other school administered programs.
